History of RadiographyABC
RadiographyABC is division of the NursingABC program.
Early 1970's ● Dr. Ken Hartman, Professor of Organic Chemistry at Geneva College, was requested by Jameson Hospital School of Nursing (New Castle, PA) to develop a program of instruction in lab chemistry to be taught to a group of nursing school applicants who were deficient in required high school chemistry. ● This high school equivalent lab chemistry course was taught by Dr. Hartman at Geneva College two evenings per week, for six weeks, during the next five years.
Late 1970's ● Due to the need for students to also take this chemistry course during the daytime hours, the course was taught in one-on-one meetings between Dr. Hartman and each student (independent study). ● High school equivalent algebra and lab-biology courses were added to the curriculum as requested by the five nursing schools that were using the program. ● Several area high schools began to send students for instruction in chemistry.
Early 1990's ● Several area radiology schools began to use the program as a method for their under-prepared applicants to meet entrance requirements. ● High school equivalent geometry and lab-physics courses were added to the curriculum as requested by the radiography schools that were using the program.
2002 ● To accommodate a greater number of students, the curriculum was offered by distance methods (online and correspondence) and was given the name "NursingABC". This made possible the completion of the course from the comfort of home and alleviated most of the inconveniences associated with travel to Geneva College. ● High school equivalent algebra I and basic math courses were added to the curriculum, as requested by the secondary and home schools that were using the program.
2004 ● An advanced-placement equivalent psychology course was added to the curriculum ● The program was developed into three divisions: NursingABC ● serving nursing schools with Algebra I, Algebra II, Basic Math, Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology RadiographyABC ● serving radiology schools with Algebra I, Algebra II, Basic Math, Biology, Chemistry, and Geometry HighSchool ABC ● serving secondary schools and home schools with Algebra I, Algebra II, Basic Math, Biology, Chemistry, Geometry, Physics, and Psychology
2005 ● The entire NursingABC program underwent accreditation by the Middle States Association Commission on Secondary Schools. ● NursingABC received Middle States Accreditation on October 28, 2005. |
